The main function of the heart is to pump blood throughout the body.
The human heart has four chambers: two atria (upper chambers) and two ventricles (lower chambers).
The four chambers are the Right Atrium, Right Ventricle, Left Atrium, and Left Ventricle.
The left and right sides of the heart are separated by the septum (interatrial septum separates the atria, and interventricular septum separates the ventricles).
The left side (specifically the Left Ventricle) pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.
Veins carry blood to the heart: the superior and inferior vena cava carry deoxygenated blood to the right atrium, and pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood to the left atrium.
